Alec Becker
Where are you from?
Dallas, TX
What was your major and why did you decide to pursue such a degree?
Applied Exercise Physiology; I have always had a fascination with how the body works and one day I would like to work in the medical field.
Why did you choose Texas A&M?
I chose Texas A&M because I fell in love with the people, the environment, and the tradition that this wonderful University has to offer.
Do you have any older or younger siblings?
Yes, I have two younger sisters, Delaney and Madison.
Do you have any animals and do they have any tricks?
I claim two dependent puppies. The first is the family dog, Zoey, who lives in Dallas. She is a Yorkie/Poodle mix and my favorite of her tricks is that she knows how to “dance”. The second is my puppy, Bailey, and she has a multitude of tricks all the way from sit, lay down, and shake all the way to high five and cuddle.
What is your favorite book? Why?
My favorite book is “The Princess Bride” by William Goldman because it is the perfect combination of genres combined into one twisted and entertaining fanfare of a “happily ever after” saga.
Where did you go to high school?
Plano West Senior High School (WOLF PACK!)
What is your favorite Jewish food?
It’s a tie between my Bubbye’s Matzo Balls and Kreplach.
What is your favorite food?
Steak and Baked Potatoes
Favorite Jewish childhood memory.
Going on the March of the Living with my Zayde.
What has been your favorite Chabad experience until now?
Meeting everyone in the community and spending most of my Shabbats with my friends and Aggie family.
What is one thing that would enhance Jewish life on campus?
More Jews!
Have you ever traveled outside of the United States? If so, where?
Yes, Bahamas, Germany, Poland, Israel
Have you ever been to Israel? If so, what was your most significant significance there? (emotional, spiritual, inspiring, funny)
Yes, two of my favorite experiences in Israel were 1. Hearing the siren on Yom HaShoah and 2. Spending Friday night Shabbat at the Kotel with my friends and family.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
Anywhere with a hot sun, clear skies, a beach, and a bar.
If you could pick one superpower what would it be? Why?
I would like to have powers like the Green Lantern where anything I imagined could be real.
What was the most thrilling experience in your life?
Riding my first brand new motorcycle down a windy country road at high speeds with fraternity brothers.
If you had a message for freshmen what would it be?
Study hard during the week and during the day so that you can enjoy yourself to the fullest at night and on the weekends; never stop having unique experiences and never be scared to try something new.
What do you love most about being an Aggie (I mean you’re always an Aggie)? WHOOP!
I love that I will always have a network and family to come back to that is as passionate about my school as I am.
What has been your most enjoyable class at university thus far?
As bad as it sounds, my most enjoyable class was the golf class that I took on Mondays and Wednesdays of my freshman year. It was my time to blow off some steam and relax during the week while also learning from a great coach and getting school credit.
What was the best job you held while here on campus?
I worked for the New Student and Family Programs office which ran the New Student Conferences over the Summer. I got to welcome the new freshman and their family and friends to Aggieland as they began a new chapter in their lives which is pretty cool.
What is your favorite color (think the whole Crayola color scheme)?
Purple
In your spare time what do you like to do?
Golf, read, watch movies, play with my puppy, and hang out with friends.
Did you prefer living on campus or off campus?
Off-campus
If you could have one wish for anything in the world what would it be?
Better health and unlimited wealth for everyone.
Alec, I know that you are graduating soon, what are you most looking forward to after graduating? What are you going to miss the most?
I am looking forward to starting my career and adult life; I will miss the massive amounts of free time and mid-day naps.
Do you have any post-graduation plans come December?
I am going to be looking for a job in the medical field so that I can decompress and make my decision of whether or not I want to go to medical school.
What do you love most about Jewish life on campus?
It gives me a home away from home where I always know that I’m welcome and that will support me in everything that I do!
