Scott Mash.jpg

What is your name?

 Scott Mash

Where are you from?

Dallas, TX

What is your current area of study? Why the decision to pursue that field?

I’m currently studying biology. I have always enjoyed science and medicine so biology seemed like the best fit!

I hear you are planning on going to graduate school here at Texas A&M. What program will you be in?

I will be pursuing a masters degree in biomedical science and focusing on translational and applied clinical research.

Why did you choose Texas A&M?

Ever since I was a young mench I always wanted to be a veterinarian. A&M has one of the best veterinary schools in the country so the choice seemed pretty easy!

Do you have any older or younger siblings?

Yes! I have a twin brother, Joel, who goes to Texas State and an older brother, Lee, who just graduated and is living in Israel.

Do you have any animals and do they have any tricks?

I have two dogs back in Dallas and I think the only trick they know is how to eat and sleep.

What is your favorite book? Why?

My favorite book is The Perks of Being a Wallflower because I just really enjoyed the story.

Where did you go to high school?

J.J. Pearce High School

What is your favorite Jewish food?

Definitely latkes. And the white fish that Manya makes every week. (Jackie thinks this is funny!)

What is your favorite food?

Cheese Fries

Favorite Jewish childhood memory.

Getting presents on Chanukkah

What has been your favorite Chabad experience until now?

Passover Seder.

Have you ever traveled outside of the United States? If so, where?

Nope! I am hoping to go Israel this summer though. (Go Scott Go!)

What are you thinking about right now?

I’m thinking about how I love studying for finals.

If you were and animal which animal would best describe you?

Probably a dog, since I like to eat a lot and sleep a lot.

What was the most thrilling experience in your life?

The most thrilling experience of my life has been coming to Texas A&M.

If you had a message for freshmen what would it be?

Come by the Chabad and put on tefillin. Also be sure to make fun of Rahmani as much as you can!

What do you love most about being an Aggie (I mean you’re always an Aggie)? WHOOP!

All the friendly people, great professors, and awesome libraries.

What has been your most enjoyable class at the university thus far?

The classes I’ve enjoyed most have been a creative writing and comparative endocrinology.

What was the best job you held while here on campus?

The best job has been working as an anesthesia technician at the veterinary school!

What is the best part about being an anesthesiologist in the Veterinary Hospital on campus?

Well I’m still not an anesthesiologist…but I really enjoy working with the veterinary students during their clinical rotations, e.g. Odeliah!

What is your favorite color (think the whole Crayola color scheme)?

Green.

In your spare time what do you like to do?

What spare time? When I have spare time I like to swim, run, play soccer, and watch Seinfeld.

Did you prefer living on campus or off campus?

I definitely prefer off campus! I have lived in the same house the past three years and enjoyed it a lot.

If you could have one wish for anything in the world what would it be?

More sleep.

Do you have any fun post-graduation plans come May? I mean before graduate school?

I will hopefully be going to Israel and spending some time with my family in Dallas.

What do you love most about Jewish life on campus?

Having the support of some great, loving, and kind people and always having a place that feels like home.

Good Luck on your exams! Thanks and gig em!
