What is your name?
Elad Dermer

Where are you from?
I was born in Carbondale, Illinois and grew up in Kiryat Bialik, Israel

Why did you choose Texas A&M?
Looking into the Aerospace engineering program in few universities in the states I found out A&M is in a high spot on the list

What was your major and why did you decide to pursue such a degree
Space is cool!

What do you love about Jewish life on campus?
Coming from Israel I wasn’t sure how much of a Jewish life there is in campus and to my surprise it is a pretty big and kicking community. It makes me feel home and more connected to who I am.

Do you have any siblings?
A younger brother named Shavit (comet in Hebrew). Great guitar and other string instruments player!

What is your favorite food?
Most of the Israeli/middle eastern food is great but nothing can beat shawarma.
Oh and of course the cliché. Hummus!

What is your favorite Chabad experience until now?
The New York Shabaton/Jewfest.. It was great meeting so many people on such a short time and feel connected with everyone immediately

Have you ever traveled outside of the United States?
Netherland, France, Belgium, England, Croatia, Monte-Negro….Mexico, India and Nepal.
Nepal and India were my favorite – climbing on the Himalayas was a unique experience both mentally and physically.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
The beach

How do you enjoy spending your free time?
Working out at the Gym, reading, Netflix and Chabad ( ;) )

If you were able to have one superpower what would it be?
Read minds

How did you get involved with Chabad?
On my first days in College Station I was looking for somewhere to eat and while taking the wrong turn I noticed a sign in Hebrew that got me curios. It said Chabad and Friday was coming so I figured that would be a great place to go for Friday night and walked in to introduce myself.
